Mini Metro: Fix an Overcrowded Station by Following Its Passengers

PUZZLE BREAKS · MINI METRO

A crowded station is a symptom. Before drawing another line, trace where its passengers need to go and where the journey becomes inefficient.

Read the waiting shapes

Mini Metro represents destinations with shapes, so start by comparing the waiting passengers with the stations their current line reaches. A route that passes many stops may still offer a poor path to the shapes in demand. Do not assume the busiest-looking junction is automatically the right place for every transfer. Follow a plausible journey from the crowded station to a suitable destination.

Separate capacity from connectivity

If passengers can reach their destinations but trains remain full, extra capacity may help. If the route requires an awkward transfer or a long detour, another carriage may only delay the problem. This distinction is a useful way to evaluate an upgrade. Ask whether you need to carry more people along a sensible path or create a more sensible path in the first place.

Change a small section

Try a limited adjustment that shortens a repeated journey or improves a connection. Preserve the rest of the network where possible so you can see the effect. A complete redraw can create fresh problems while hiding whether the original idea helped. Use the available pause or planning opportunities in your chosen mode, and check its rules before assuming lines can be changed freely.

Watch the next few arrivals

A queue shrinking once is encouraging but not conclusive. Observe whether the same destination demand builds again and whether your change has moved congestion to another station. The goal is not a beautiful diagram at every moment; it is a network that can adapt to changing demand. The developer describes Mini Metro as a growing-city network puzzle, so leave room for the next station rather than treating the current map as finished.
