An empty production slot is not always the biggest problem. A missing ingredient can interrupt several machines at once, so start with the chain behind the product.
Work backwards from one useful product
Choose a product you actually need and inspect its recipe in the game. Identify which ingredients are ready, which must be grown and which must be made by another machine. This simple backward check exposes the slowest dependency before you fill queues with less useful work. Avoid producing a large batch simply because one ingredient happens to be abundant.
Protect the shared ingredient
Some ingredients support several recipes. If two machines need the same limited stock, decide which product matters first instead of starting both plans mentally and discovering you can finish neither. Keep a small working reserve for frequently used inputs. The right reserve depends on your farm and routine, so treat it as an adjustable habit rather than a fixed expert rule.
Queue for the time you will be away
Supercell's production-building guide explains that machines have production slots and can gain additional slots. More slots are useful when you can supply them with ingredients and collect the output comfortably. Before spending premium currency on capacity, check whether ingredient shortages or storage pressure are the actual bottleneck. A longer queue does not solve a missing input.
Finish with a collection plan
Look at barn space before leaving several machines producing. Decide which finished goods will satisfy a current need and which are intended for sale. On your next visit, collect and use the highest-priority products first. A short plan with one or two connected recipes is often calmer than trying to keep every machine constantly active. The aim is a farm that supports your preferred pace, not maximum activity for its own sake.
